Live, online training on working with children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.

This workshop is for you if you care for or work with children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse in any setting

Natalie Wyatt will lead this online session which will offer you creative ways to support your practice with children and young people.

What will I take away from this Live Classroom?

  • A reminder of the contemporary definition of domestic abuse, and changes introduced by the Domestic Abuse Act 2021
  • Knowledge of the different types of domestic abuse, including coercive control, and their relationship with complex trauma
  • An understanding of the relevance of domestic abuse to life story work and how we can frame this in a sensitive, child-centred way that does not misrepresent the abusive dynamic
  • You will also have the opportunity to reflect on what you have learned and how you will apply this going forwards

About Natalie Wyatt

Natalie Wyatt is a social worker with 15 years’ post-qualifying experience across a number of national, local government and third sector organisations. She is a skilled trainer, consultant and senior leader.

As the head of improvement for the UK’s largest employer of social workers Natalie was responsible for the learning and development of over 2,500 practitioners, maintaining an ‘outstanding’ level of practice across the organisation. Natalie’s reputation for high quality, engaging training also led to her delivering work internationally, in the East Caribbean and Channel Islands.

Natalie is passionate about poverty-aware practice, domestic abuse and court-based social work. She brings with her lived experience of social work services in her own childhood.

Natalie Wyatt is a training practitioner from Trauma Informed Consultancy Services, which offers an extensive range of training sessions related to all aspects of how we can apply a Trauma Informed Framework to settings, services and systems. Trauma Informed Consultancy Services works with education settings, Children’s Services, Criminal Justice and Adult Services.
