Therapeutic Letter Writing

An introduction to therapeutic letter-writing, with Ciara McClelland

Tickets: free for members, £50 for non-members.

Ciara McClelland

This session, with Ciara McClelland, will introduce therapeutic letter writing as a powerful tool for healing, care and truth-telling within fostering and social work settings.

It will explore how setting intentions at the start of the process can shape meaning and impact, and how letters can carry deep emotional significance.

We will consider how letters can be used to support memory, provide clarity, or offer a tangible reminder of connection and reflection.

And we will explore how, while letters can be received in a wide range of ways, their potential for long-term value remains.

What will I take from this Live Classroom?

  • Practical skills in writing therapeutic letters that foster emotional healing, truth-telling and connection.
  • An understanding of the importance of clearly defined intentions in enhancing the impact of therapeutic letters.
  • A recognition of how therapeutic letters can provide lasting support, help clarify complex feelings, and offer tangible reminders of care and reflection in fostering and social work.
