Why am I in care? Explaining professional concerns to children

A toolkit created by Rebecca Booth, explaining how to use the Resolutions Approach and Words and Pictures to help children understand why they are in care.

This toolkit is based on the Resolutions Approach and Words and Pictures. A more in-depth explanation of the theoretical background, development and execution of the method can be found in Working with ‘Denied’ Child Abuse: The Resolutions Approach (2006) by Andrew Tunnell and Susie Essex. For a briefer exploration of the approach, see this article.

This toolkit describes a variation of the tool that can be used to explain professional concerns to care-experienced children and young people and explain why they are in care. It can be used by social workers who have a strong understanding of childhood trauma.
