Organisations including Tower Hamlets Council, Darlington Borough Council and Therapeutic Life Story Work UK have all invested in Creative Life Story Work membership for their teams. This means their members all have access to all the resources on the Creative Life Story Work website, plus 12 Live Classrooms per year.
But how can an organisation make the most of their membership, and help staff make use of the training and resources on offer?
Adding life story work as a standing item in team meeting agendas gives a regular opportunity for people to share learning from training they’ve attended, review training opportunities coming up and discuss how to put lessons into practice.
A group like this can try out resources and approaches and share their learning across the wider organisation.
At Darlington Borough Council’s staff conference, Darlington Xtra, Professor Richard Rose was invited to deliver staff training on Creative Life Story Work. The event was also an opportunity for staff members to share how they’ve put Creative Life Story Work into practice across the local authority.
Does your organisation have a life story work policy in place? A framework like this gives your staff structure and guidance, and can include details like the agreed frequency of life story work, and how practitioners should evidence it.
Providing time, space and training for staff means that your approach to life story work is more likely to be embedded successfully. Darlington Borough Council shared how they have put support in place, in this episode of the Creative Life Story Work podcast.
